Game three of four between the Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals will take place tonight at Truist Park. Each team has earned a victory in the first two games of the series, with Atlanta's win coming in their MLB leading ninth shutout.

Tonight will showcase the debut of the Braves third ranked prospect, Spencer Schwellenbach. He was a second round pick in the 2021 draft out of Nebraska, and has pitched just 13 innings above High-A ball in his pro career.

Probable starting pitchers for Braves vs. Nationals

Spencer Schwellenbach (MLB debut) received a surprise promotion yesterday afternoon to jump from Double-A Mississippi to the big league club in Atlanta. Spencer features a mid-90s fastball, two above average breaking pitches, and a work in progress changeup offering. His calling card (and the reason he's in Atlanta) is his command. Schwellenbach can pound the strike zone with all of his pitches.

MacKenzie Gore (3-4, 3.04 ERA) has electric stuff from the left side and is developing into the Nationals' ace. His fastball has an average velocity of 96.6 mph, which he partners with a well-rounded curveball, slider, and changeup. Gore has a whiff% of 34 on each of his breaking balls, and is holding hitters to a .370 xSLG on his four-seam fastball via Baseball Savant.
