Atlanta Braves probable pitchers and starting lineups vs. San Diego Padres, May 19
The Braves hope for dryer weather and their first win during Sunday's game with the Padres.
The Braves couldn't get a game in on Saturday evening as game two was postponed due to inclement weather in the area. That game was moved to Monday as part of a day-night doubleheader instead.
Atlanta will hope to grab a win after a tough loss on Friday night against the Padres. Let's check out our starting lineups and starting pitchers for Sunday's game at Truist Park.
Probable starting pitchers for Braves vs. Padres
Bryce Elder (1-1, 4.79 ERA) has continued to struggled during his 2024 season as he hasn't been able to find the consistency that made him an All-Star in 2023. His previous start against the Mets was decent as he gave the team 5.1 innings of work with two runs on seven hits. He struck out six batters and didn't issue a walk. That is the biggest takeaway from his last start because walks have plagued him. If he can continue to limit walks, Elder may be able to regain the confidence that made him one of Atlanta's best starters.
Yu Darvish (3-1, 2.43 ERA) hasn't shown any signs of slowing down in his age-37 season.Darvish signed an extension in February of 2023 and that extension carries him through the 2028 season. He remains a tough puzzle for opponents to solve as he has a vast pitch mix to consider. Darvish proved that during his last outing where he tossed seven scoreless innings against the LA Dodgers with seven strikeouts. Atlanta's offense has struggled lately and they will have another tough challenge tonight.
