Not much is going right for the Atlanta Braves at the moment. After they lost their superstar player and reigning NL MVP in the road trip finale, they returned home hoping to flip the switch on their offensive struggles.

Sadly, it was more of the same as the Braves put up just nine runs in their four-game series with Washington and dropped three of the four to their division rival. Hopefully an Athletics team with low expectations for the season can jumpstart the Braves to make a run in June.

Probable starting pitchers for Braves vs. Athletics

Reynaldo Lopez (2-2, 1.75 ERA) will look to bounce back from his "worst" start of 2024 last time out. In his last outing in Pittsburgh, Lopez failed to reach the fifth inning for the first time all year. Despite his "rough" start last time, Lopez enters tonight with a sub-2.00 ERA and 47 strikeouts on the season.

J.P. Sears (4-3, 3.88 ERA) is a left-handed pitcher who excels with his breaking ball. Sears throws his sweeper 32% of the time and is holding opponents to a .230 slugging percentage and .184 wOBA via Baseball Savant on that pitch. As a contrast, hitters are slugging .567 against his four-seam fastball in 2024.
