The Atlanta Braves won the New York series after taking game two on Saturday afternoon. Atlanta almost accomplished an incredible feat with the first Braves no-hitter in 30 years. However, the bid for history ended heartbreakingly with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

Max Fried struggled with command but somehow found a way to carry a no-hit bid through seven innings. Joe Jimenez struggled but escaped the eighth inning with no hits. Raisel Iglesias, who achieved his 200th career save on Friday night, hoped to seal a historic moment but J.D. Martinez launched a first-pitch homer to sour the ending. The Braves won which is most important but it was hard to see it end the way it did.

Game one was exciting as the team regained their powerful approach with three homers in one inning. Atlanta will go for the series sweep tonight in front of National audiences and continue their quest for a division title. Let's check out the starting lineups and pitchers for tonight's game.

Probable starting pitchers

Luis Severino (2-2, 2.93 ERA) makes his eighth start for the Mets and it's been a bit of a mixed bag but overall he's been a good pickup for New York. He hasn't faced the Braves yet in 2024 so he will get a tough test tonight. He has pitched 40 innings with 17 walks and 37 strikeouts.

Bryce Elder (1-1, 5.28 ERA) will start for the fourth time this season and each start has gradually shortened. Most recently, he started against the powerful Dodgers and they beat him up pretty well. Elder allowed seven runs through 3.1 innings including four walks and four strikeouts. Hopefully, his familiarity with the Mets will allow him to perform more like the pitcher we saw against the Marlins in April.
