Last night the Braves started off their 2024 Queens debut on a strong note with a 4-2 victory. The big bats woke up, with Acuna, Albies, and Olson each homering in the third inning. That was the first time the Braves hit three homers in an inning since June of last season.
Braves closer Raisel Iglesias also picked up his 200th career save in the game last night. Hopefully, the big inning from the bats and continued solid starting pitching will get the Braves rolling. Keeping this winning streak may just allow them to track down the NL East leading Philadelphia Phillies.
Let's check out the starting lineups and pitchers for tonight's game.
Probable starting pitchers
Max Fried (2-1, 4.23 ERA) is still the same dominant pitcher we have come to know despite his first inning struggles this season. He is a master at limiting hard contact, as he ranks in the 95th percentile in hard-hit% and in the 98th percentile in average exit velocity via Baseball Savant. In 22 career appearances versus the Mets, Fried is 8-5 with a 2.65 ERA and 108 strikeouts.
Christian Scott (0-0, 1.35 ERA) will be making just his second big league start today. He is currently ranked as the Mets fifth best prospect. Last year he dominated Double-A with a sub 1.00 WHIP, and near 9 K/BB. He leans on a big fastball that sits in the 93-97 mph range, and partners that with a heavy splitter that is in the upper 80s.
