Atlanta Braves probable pitchers and starting lineups vs. Miami Marlins, April 22
The Marlins sail into town for a three-game series with the NL East-leading Braves.
The Braves are off to a great start on their homestand with a series win over the Texas Rangers this past weekend. They welcome the Marlins in for the next three games of what is a nine-game homestand.
Atlanta played pretty well against the Marlins a couple of weeks ago but the pesky Marlins didn't just go away quietly. They like to play well against their division rival and I'd expect that again this time around. Hopefully, the Braves continue their winning ways this evening.
Probable starting pitchers
Bryce Elder (0-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his debut for the MLB squad tonight after starting the season at Triple-A Gwinnett. He had a rough spring with the Braves but has done fairly well for the Stripers. He has a 3.31 ERA through three starts with Gwinnett.
Over 16.1 innings, he has allowed six runs on 14 hits with five walks and 18 strikeouts. His most recent start took place on April 16 where he allowed three runs on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. The former All-Star will hope to carry that success to the big league club and show he can be the same pitcher he was during the first half of 2023.
Ryan Weathers (2-1, 2.70 ERA) will face Atlanta for the first time in 2024. He has faced the Braves when he was with the San Diego Padres. He's thrown 8 innings against the Braves with a 2.25 ERA including two walks and eight strikeouts. The lefty's last start was against the Giants and he completed six innings with one walk and 10 strikeouts.
