The Atlanta Braves started a series with the Miami Marlins on Friday night and the team looked great. Max Fried was back to his normal self, completing 6.1 innings with one run on four hits including one walk and four strikeouts. Atlanta's offense rattled off eight runs on 14 hits to earn their eighth win of the year.

The Braves are now 8-4 while the Marlins drop to 2-12 for the 2024 season. They'll hope to win the series this afternoon in Miami.

Probable starting pitchers

Chris Sale (1-0, 3.38 ERA) makes his third start of the 2024 season after two impressive outings. Through 10.2 innings he has allowed four runs on nine hits including two walks and 13 strikeouts. It was hard to know what version of Sale we would get before the season but the southpaw had a healthy offseason and looks great so far. With the recent news about Strider missing the season with a UCL brace surgery, Sale has become even more important for Atlanta.

Max Meyer (1-0, 2.45 ERA) will start for Miami. He was selected by the Marlins in the 2020 draft and first made an appearance in the MLB in 2022. Meyer pitched in six innings that season but missed all of 2023 after having Tommy John surgery. So far this season, he's seen action in 11 innings allowing three runs on five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. Both of those games were against the Angels and Cardinals.
