Atlanta Braves probable pitchers and starting lineups vs. Boston Red Sox, May 8
Chris Sale takes the mound against his former squad hoping to help the Braves sweep the short series.
Coming off suffering their first sweep of the 2024 season, the Atlanta Braves needed to rebound in front of a packed Truist Park. Their challenge was a formidable Boston Red Sox team and one of the best starters thus far in 2024.
Thankfully, the Braves were up to the challenge and managed to snap their three-game losing streak with 4-2 victory last night. The game featured Jarred Kelenic's first home run as a Brave, so hopefully that is a sign of things to come for both him and the Atlanta offense.
Let's check out the starting lineups and pitchers for tonight's game.
Probable starting pitchers
Chris Sale (4-1, 3.44 ERA) will be making his first start against Boston in quite sometime after spending the last seven years of his career there. Sale has been everything Braves fans hoped he would be, with tons of strikeouts and a number of deep starts.
Nick Pivetta (1-1, 0.82 ERA) will make just his third start of the year, after missing most of April with a right flexor strain. Pivetta is no stranger to the Braves, as tonight he will make his 20th appearance against Atlanta. In his previous work, Pivetta is 7-4 with a 5.04 ERA and 77 strikeouts. Marcell Ozuna has some of the best numbers against Pivetta, carrying a .990 OPS with four homers against the RHP.
