The Atlanta Braves return home for a short two-game series with the Boston Red Sox. The Braves are coming off a disappointing 1-5 road trip where they could not solve the Mariners and Dodgers.
Seeing offensive struggles from a team that dominated in 2024 has been tough. They have experienced a bit of bad luck but have also fallen victim to poor approaches at the plate. That needs to change if they have any chance of getting the division lead back. They are currently 3 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies.
The team is lucky to have two of their best pitchers going this series to give them the best chance of getting back on the right track. However, that all means nothing if the offense cannot score runs.
Let's check out the starting lineups and pitchers for tonight's game.
Probable starting pitchers
Kutter Crawford (2-1, 1.56 ERA) has been a huge surprise for Boston and owns the second-best ERA in baseball. He has allowed just seven earned runs with 13 walks and 40 strikeouts over 40.1 innings pitched. Crawford's last outing was a seven-inning, four-hit, two-run performance with two walks and six strikeouts against the Giants.
Reynaldo Lรณpez (2-1, 1.50 ERA) is off to an unimaginably great start for Atlanta and has proven the Braves right to let him be a part of the rotation. His 1.50 ERA does not qualify to be mentioned as the second-best ERA amongst all starting pitchers because he has yet to meet the innings requirement. However, we would be remiss not to talk about how impressive his ERA is.
His last start against the Mariners wasn't his best but he still completed five innings allowing three runs on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. He will hopefully be able to continue this early success against Boston tonight.
