Two new names join the Atlanta Braves organization from the collegiate ranks.
Amid the Atlanta Braves signing each of their 2024 MLB Draft picks in the last two weeks, the club also made two notable minor league signings from the collegiate ranks at the same time in a pair of experienced college baseball players - Mac Guscette and Jacob Gomez.
Both signed with the Braves after going undrafted in the 2024 MLB Draft.

Of those names, arguably the most notable of the two is Mac Guscette, a catcher who joins the Braves organization after four seasons in the SEC - two at Florida, and two at Alabama.
Over those four seasons, Guscette appeared in 155 career games at the collegiate level, slashing a combined .280/.363/.438 with 18 homers and 100 RBI, while also holding a 58:37 K/BB ratio. Playing against elite competition in the SEC, Guscette slashed .321/.418/.442 this past year at Alabama in arguably his best season in college, also hitting four home runs and 39 RBI with a 19:10 K/BB ratio.
The second of those two was a left-handed pitcher Jacob Gomez, who has spent the past four years at Old Dominion as a reliever. Across those four seasons, Gomez made 74 total appearances, five of which were starts, to own a combined 14-7 record with a 4.30 ERA, a 197:77 K/BB ratio, and nine saves across 180 IP.
Similar to Guscette as well, Gomez is also coming off arguably the best single-season of his college career in which he owned a 2-2 record, a 2.88 ERA, a 64:13 K/BB ratio, and seven saves across 56.1 IP at Old Dominion.
With both players recently signed back on July 22, the duo of Guscette and Gomez were assigned to the FCL Braves on July 23, with both having yet to appear in in-game action at the time of writing.
