As MLB inches closer to Opening Day, MLB The Show has slowly unveiling the newest features from their 2025 edition of the game before the game's release on March 18. On Wednesday, the game revealed its 2025 MLB ratings for the top five players on each team.
The top five Atlanta Braves in 2025, according to MLB The Show, shouldn't be surprising to Braves fans, but one might find the omission of one star interesting.

MLB The Show 25 just revealed the top 5 Atlanta Braves
After taking home the NL Cy Young Award, it shouldn't be terribly shocking that The Show gives Chris Sale the highest ranking on the team, with a 94 overall. The Braves ace was phenomenal in 2024, as he finished the season with a 2.38 ERA, 2.09 FIP, and 6.4 fWAR.
Following Sale in the rankings is 2023 NL MVP Ronald Acuña Jr. The 27-year-old superstar sees a huge decrease in rating compared to the 2024 edition of the game, as did the most of the rest of the team, but he still ends up with a 93 overall. The face of the franchise saw an unfortunate end to a disappointing season in May after tearing his ACL, but looks to rebound after he returns sometime in late April or early May.
Spencer Strider ranks third, with MLB The Show handing him an 88 overall. Like Acuña Jr., Strider missed the majority of the season, which resulted in a huge dip in his overall rating, down from 97 overall. However, like Acuña Jr., Strider is expected back early this season from his injury.
Matt Olson, off a relatively disappointing 2024, still is given an 87 overall by MLB's top video game. This is an eight point drop from last season, but it's still enough to be considered the second-best first baseman in the division, beating out Pete Alonso by two points.
Rounding out the top five is Michael Harris II, with an 87 overall. The homegrown center fielder is expected to breakout in 2025, so it's unsurprising his placement as fifth-best on the Braves, even if he also missed time in 2024 with injury and didn't finish with as impressive stats as he had produced in 2022 and 2023.
Interestingly, Austin Riley just misses the cut. A season after getting a 96 overall rating, the Braves third baseman lands just outside the top five, although The Show hasn't revealed every player's rating yet, but it would be shocking if Riley is anything below an 85.
Of course, just because the third baseman landed outside the top five doesn't mean MLB The Show expects him to be bad. The Braves have the second highest-rated fifth best player in the game, behind the Dodgers and Freddie Freeman's 90 overall rating.
While MLB The Show's player ratings are from from 100% accurate, it's still impressive to see how good the Braves still are, even after several players saw regressions in their overall grade. Hopefully, their 2025 performance inspires MLB The Show to up the rankings for 2026.
