The Atlanta Braves managerial search has begun, and there are a few candidates available to consider. Alex Anthopoulos spoke with the media on Saturday to discuss plans for the offseason. He obviously spoke about the focus being on shortstop, the bullpen, and the starting rotation. However, the more pressing need is to find a manager. Anthopoulos made sure to quell speculation that he forced Brian Snitker to retire as manager.
With all of that out of the way, AA stated that the team would begin reaching out to replacement candidates on Saturday as well. There have been plenty of rumors surrounding the people available and who would be a great fit.
It will be interesting to see who the front office believes is ready to lead the team after a rough season. A few former Braves have been mentioned as fits to take over the team.
Former Braves catcher David Ross may be one of the best fits to replace Brian Snitker as manager
One of those players is David Ross. Ross played for the Braves from 2009 to 2012 as the backup catcher. He was pretty good during his time in Atlanta, and seems like a perfect fit.
He has the right attitude for it, and he has experience managing already. The Bainbridge, Georgia native managed the Cubs from 2020 to 2023 and ended with a 262-284 record. He led Chicago to a division title in 2020.

Ross, the former Atlanta catcher and Chicago Cubs manager, said Thursday he’s ready to manage again and said returning to the dugout with the Braves “would be amazing.” A native of Bainbridge, Georgia, Ross was 262-284 in four seasons managing the Cubs from 2020-23. Under Ross, the Cubs won the NL Central in 2020.
Ross would no doubt be a great manager as he isn't too far removed from being a player and understands the importance of the culture Atlanta values. And it seems Ross has a desire to manage again. He is aware that he's been mentioned as a potential fit for the Braves. "Obviously, Atlanta would be amazing, but there's nothing really to elaborate on.", Ross stated in an interview with The Associated Press.
AA is almost certainly aware of those comments by Ross and will reach out to him. The Braves clearly value bringing someone in who understands the culture they've developed. Hopefully, we will gain some clarity in the coming days on who the team thinks is worthy of taking over.
