From 2000-2005, Rafael Furcal was a mainstay in the Atlanta Braves' infield including winning NL Rookie of the Year in 2000. He would go on to play for the Dodgers, Cardinals, and Marlins before playing his last MLB game in 2014 and ending a 14 year career. Unfortunately, Furcal finds himself in some pretty serious legal trouble down in Florida.

According to multiple reports, Furcal was arrested in Florida and turned himself in to Broward County jail after an incident on Monday.

Former Braves infielder Rafael Furcal reportedly arrested in Florida on two felony charges

There is little in the way of details at the moment and there is no reason to speculate as to what could have happened or if Furcal is actually guilty of a crime here, as there is an active police investigation still ongoing, and the police department with jurisdiction has yet to comment on the arrest. What we know is that he is currently being charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and missile into dwelling, vehicle, building or aircraft.

Furcal had legal troubles when he was an active player, but nothing to this extent. During his time with the Braves, Furcal was arrested twice for driving under the influence. As far as is public knowledge, those are the only other brushes with law enforcement that Furcal has on his record.

We will update this story as more details become available, but this is a sad development for a player that a lot of Braves fans remember fondly.
