The 2025 MLB Draft is just a week away and the Atlanta Braves find themselves with the need to really start thinking long and hard about what this roster is going to look like in the future. There is no denying anymore that the 2025 season looks like a lost cause and now the front office led by Alex Anthopoulos needs to chart a path forward and that is going to start with their picks next week.
Will the Braves stick with what they "know" and continue to target pitching in the first round? Will Atlanta decide that they really need an infusion of offensive talent and change things up. We'll know the answer to those questions soon enough and there are going to be a lot of mock drafts between now and the draft, but here are the basics about the Braves' 2025 draft.
Here are all of the Braves draft picks in the 2025 MLB Draft
The way the MLB Draft works is that each pick has a slot value, but it is used mainly to determine a team's draft bonus pool. Basically, you add up the slot values of rounds 1-10 and that is how much money a team has to spend divided however they choose. You can spend up to 5% more than that and only pay a tax, but anymore than 5% and you start losing draft picks.
For the 2025 MLB Draft, the Braves' bonus pool is $9,081,100. Their pool did get a small boost thanks to an extra pick after the fourth round that is compensation for Max Fried leaving, but their pool is still easily in the bottom third of MLB due to their draft position being low. Here are where the Braves are picking.
- First Round - #22 overall ($3,983,900 bonus pool value)
- Second Round - #60 overall ($1,523,200)
- Third Round - #96 overall ($796,000)
- Fourth Round - #127 overall ($588,900)
- Fourth Round (Comp Pick) - #136 overall ($539,700)
- Fifth Round - #157 overall ($438,600)
- Rounds 6-20 - 22nd pick in every round
The first round pick is going to set the tone for the Braves' entire draft. If they find themselves with a really talented high school prospect available with a strong college commitment, you can expect them to use all of that slot (if not a little more) if they make that pick. If it is a college player with some question marks/injury concerns, it could be an underslot pick and the Braves could use the savings to target other talents later, likely in rounds 2-10 somewhere.
Day One went late into the night and will be a very deliberate pick by pick slog. Day Two will start earlier and the cadence will go a lot faster, although there will still be more analysis from the MLB Network folks especially early when there are still prominent names getting picks. Day Three is essentially rapid fire picks and while there might be a couple surprises, most of those picks are lottery ticket types. Here is who the Braves picked in the 2025 MLB Draft.
