The Atlanta Braves have been involved in some high scoring innings during the 2025 season alone, but ninth-inning outbursts seem to come more frequently when they are playing the Miami Marlins. On Tuesday night the Braves were locked into another low-scoring Hurston Waldrep start. With the game tied 2-2 entering the ninth, the Braves offense suddenly woke up in a big way.
Vidal Brujan doubled home the go ahead run to open the floodgates, and then the runs came pouring in. Ozzie Albies capped off the impressive ninth inning with his second homer of the game (a three-run shot), and pushed the Braves ninth inning run total to nine runs. All of the ninth-inning fireworks had Braves' fans reminiscing on another ninth-inning rally against the fish a few years ago.

Braves big offensive ninth-inning sparks memories of wild comeback against Miami in 2018
On May 20, 2018 the Braves trailed the Marlins 9-4 entering the final frame at Truist Park. What ensued was a comeback for the ages as the Braves scored six runs to walk-off the Marlins in memorable fashion. Back in 2018, a rookie Ronald Acuna Jr. and young Ozzie Albies were often shown celebrating as the team mounted the comeback that was eventually punctuated by Dansby Swanson's walk-off hit.
On Tuesday night, Acuna Jr. and Albies were in the middle of the offensive outburst with Acuna drawing a bases loaded walk, and Albies punctuating the scoring with a three-run bomb. The rookie phenom who helped with the 2025 rally was no other than potential NL Rookie of the Year, Drake Baldwin.
The biggest difference between these two rallies is the fact that the Braves were trailing for much of the comeback in 2018. In fact, they scored the final five runs of that rally with TWO outs! Despite that, anytime we get to see the Braves offense string together great at-bats like they did on Tuesday night you have to walk away happy. These rallies are only possible when the entire lineup is feeding into each other, and Atlanta getting production from the bottom of the order hitters is a great development for this team moving forward.
