The Atlanta Braves certainly haven't made things easy on themselves this season, but they are somehow hanging around. After losing another road series to the truly terrible Pirates, it looked like Atlanta was going to let another game get away from them on Monday night against the Nationals. Instead, we were treated to confirmation that the Braves do indeed have a new walk-off celebration.
Things were looking great as the offense decided to actually score a few runs for a change and Grant Holmes did well to throw a one-run game into the seventh inning. Sadly, Raisel Iglesias struggled yet again albeit in a way that was less his fault than usual. A pair of pitches off the plate turned into hits and then Nick Allen made a rare defensive miscue that plated two runs to tied the game instead of ending the ninth inning and the game on the spot.
Thankfully, Alex Verdugo came to the rescue (with an assist from Eli White) with a walk-off RBI single to win the game. More importantly, he was crowned with the Dubble Bubble bucket that is quickly becoming a mainstay on Braves players' heads during big moments.

It is becoming clear that Michael Harris II, who made an amazing catch in the game as well, seems to be one of the masterminds behind the Braves' latest celebration. He was the one that crowned Drake Baldwin after his walk-off hit and he was the one that put it on Verdugo on Monday.
Three makes a trend and with Atlanta's walk-off win, this is the third time that the Braves have had a game-winning hit followed by the Dubble Bubble bucket making an appearance. This celebration is starting to feel like a bit of a good luck charm situation, but we will happily take any luck we can get considering how tough wins have been in 2025 to come by.
This is all in good fun, but we are seeing something out of these Braves to like this season that is related to this celebration. Atlanta has not been playing well overall, but the offense has shown a knack for making games interesting in the late innings and they have been objectively great in extra innings. Perhaps the chance to put the bucket on is serving as a little bit of motivation. Whatever works, we guess.
