The Atlanta Braves are just trying to salvage what they can the rest of this season and in their series against the Nationals, they have actually been pretty successful. After their 6-3 win over Washington in the first half of their doubleheader, the Braves have now won the first two games of the series and have won three straight overall. Unfortunately, the weather in the DC area seems to have other plans for the second game today.

There has been a pretty strong chance of rain all day, but the first game of the twin bill went off without a hitch as Matt Olson continues to look like Babe Ruth during day games. However, more weather moved in as we got to the evening and now we are officially in a rain delay.

**UPDATE: 8:02 PM EST**

Looks like we are going to end up with a two hour delay. Barring any changes in the forecast tonight, this game is expected to start at roughly 8:45 PM EST.

Braves vs. Nationals Rain Delay, 9/16: When will the game start?

At the moment of this post, the tarp isn't on the field at Nationals Park, so there is at least a chance this could be a brief delay and the system could just skirt the area. However, the forecast also has a 60% chance of rain for most of the evening. Not wanting starters Chris Sale and Mackenzie Gore to get too far into their warm-ups, delaying the game makes sense if there is any real chance of rain interrupting things.

We will keep this post updated as more information becomes available as to the start of Tuesday's game and if there are any further developments. It is unfortunate that the weather seems to be wreaking havoc during a doubleheader that was caused by weather issues in the first place. However, it does seem like they are going to get his game in tonight, one way or another.
