Despite some recent hurdles, the Atlanta Braves just keep rolling along quite nicely. After taking three out of four against the Marlins this week, the Braves started their series off against the Nationals with a walk-off win thanks to heroics from Bryce Elder, Mauricio Dubon, and *checks notes* Chadwick Tromp among others. Sadly, Atlanta's quest for a fifth straight win is on hold due to some crummy weather in the area.
For the next week or so, you can expect rain to cause problems across MLB. A big temperature swing has all sorts of storms in the upcoming forecast, so this match-up between the Braves' Grant Holmes and Nationals starter Jake Ervin was always in danger. However, it is also true that neither team probably has any interest in needing to reschedule either of these two games for later in the season when days off are going to be precious.
So, even though the forecast does not overly promising this evening in the Atlanta area, it isn't that surprising that we are officially in a rain delay as opposed to just calling the game off altogether, especially since we have already gotten through a few innings.
The tarp is on the field and we are currently in a rain delay. We will provide updates as soon as they are available.

Braves vs. Nationals Rain Delay, 5/23/26: When will this game get started?
This is going to be tough, because there is rain all over the area, but it is very scattered. This could be a short delay, which seems likely given the improved forecast, or we could be waiting for a while depending on how the weather comes in. The length of the delay will dictate whether or not Holmes can get back on the mound again today, because burning him and needing seven innings from the bullpen is not ideal.
We will keep this posted updated as more information becomes available regarding this delay, including any estimated start times that are announced. You may want to get comfortable, as we could be waiting for a while.
