The Atlanta Braves suffered a brutal loss in their series opener with the Mets on Monday. Their lack of days off caught up to the bullpen, which was depleted in Atlanta's series with Baltimore. LHP Connor Thomas was forced to take the brunt of the loss due to this. It's unfortunate that it happened, but it was almost necessary. The Braves are in a stretch of 17 games straight without a day off.
However, the baseball Gods smiled down on Atlanta with the postponement of Tuesday's game in New York. Inclement weather in the area forced the Mets to push game two of the series into a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Braves' matchup against the Mets' postponed due to rain
Game one of the split doubleheader will start at 1:10 pm EST on July 29th, with game two starting at 7:10 pm EST. Chris Sale and Grant Holmes should be slated to start those games on Wednesday. No order has been announced yet.
It's good that the team will get a bit of a break, despite having to play two games the next day. That will stretch an already tired bullpen even more, as Atlanta's starters have struggled to go more than five innings lately.
Surely, the Braves will try to add another arm to give them some depth in the bullpen since they are allowed to add a 27th man on the day of a doubleheader. They absolutely need to add another arm so they don't end up in a similar situation to the one they did on Monday.
Jorge Mateo had to pitch, for goodness sake. That's not what the team ever wants to see happen. Fortunately, the trade deadline is coming up very soon and will allow them to address their dire need for relievers.
