It seems impossible that Atlanta Braves fans' recurring nightmare of a Ronald Acuña Jr. injury continues to come true year in and year out, but once again, the nightmare turns into reality. On Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox, fans watched as their superstar limped off the field after trying to beat out an infield grounder.
Acuña Jr. came up hobbling right before he reached the base, and was promptly removed from the game.

Ronald Acuña Jr. leaves game with injury after coming up lame on grounder
It's a cruel twist of fate, as Acuña has already missed 15 games this season with a hamstring injury, and then spent another week trying to find his grove before going on a home run barrage a week-and-a-half ago. Although he cooled off in the power department, he still collected six hits in six games.
On Tuesday, the plate appearance following a humorous moment with his brother, he hit a deep grounder to the third baseman, Miguel Vargas. Acuña hustled down the line trying to beat out the throw. Unfortunately, Acuña clearly aggravated something in his left leg that caused him come up limping before he even reached the bag.
The Braves' training staff came out to check on him, but his frustration limping towards the dugout made it apparent that something was wrong with the superstar. Atlanta replaced him with Eli White in the bottom half of the inning.
Of course, the biggest fear is that Acuña, who has torn both his left and right ACL, has aggravated one of his knees. After missing half of 2021 and 2024, it would be devastating if Ronald Acuña Jr. was forced to miss significant time this season as well.
While the Braves are off to an incredible start to the 2026 season, things are infinitely more fun when one of the most electric players in baseball is on the field. Hopefully, the biggest fears are not realized this time around.
