Spring training is not even a week old, and the Atlanta Braves have already seen so many injury reports it's becoming hard to keep track of. Although we knew Ha-Seong Kim and Sean Murphy would miss time recovering from injuries, we've already been blindsided by multiple pitcher injuries.
Here are all the Braves injuries we know about from week one of spring training.
Every Braves injury through the first week of spring training
Before spring training even started, Ha-Seong Kim suffered a wrist injury that knocked him out until at least May. Additionally, Joe Jiménez and Sean Murphy, who had both had season-ending surgeries, were question marks coming into camp.
Unfortunately, the Braves were quick to give updates on Murphy and Jiménez on day one of spring training. Murphy had no timeline for his return, while Jiménez went on the 60-day IL due to his knee injury that seemingly refuses to heal.
While fans expected to hear some kind of update on Jiménez and Murphy, they were blindsided after the team announced that Spencer Schwellenbach would also start the year on the 60-day IL after bone spurs were discovered in his elbow.
After giving Braves fans a few days to digest the bombardment of injury reports on the first day of spring training, Atlanta had a series of updates on Sunday. In the morning, Jurickson Profar revealed he had hernia surgery during the offseason. While Profar said that he had fully healed from the surgery, it certainly was not comforting to hear he spent the offseason recovering from an injury.
This would not be the only injury news for the day. A few hours after the Profar revelation, the Braves had even worse news for fans. Hurston Waldrep bid for the final spot in the rotation seemingly came to a premature end, with the Braves announcing they were shutting him down after he reported discomfort in his elbow. While MRIs didn't show any damage, he will see Dr. Keith Meister for further evaluation.
Hopefully the injury news slows down after this week for the Braves, who are already scrambling to try and fill the holes caused by Schwellenbach and Waldrep's potentially season altering injuries.
