After announcing a handful of roster decisions on Monday morning, which included the Atlanta Braves adding one of their top prospects, Owen Murphy, to the roster, the club had one more roster move up their sleeve before their finale against the New York Mets.
A few hours before first pitch, the Braves placed outfielder Eli White on the paternity list, and added José Azócar to the active roster. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Braves designated Jair Camargo for assignment.
The #Braves today also placed OF Eli White on the paternity list and selected OF José Azócar to the major league roster. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club designated C Jair Camargo for assignment.

Braves make interesting outfield decision with Eli White going on the paternity list
This is Azócar's third go-around on the Braves 26-man roster in 2026. He had two cameos in May, and went 5-15 with a walk in nine games, before being designated for assignment when Ronald Acuña Jr. came off the IL in May. He's had less overall success in Triple-A Gwinnett this year, as he has a .638 OPS across 58 games.
Azócar, who is out of options, has been designated for assignment twice this year, by Atlanta, but has followed the Carlos Carrasco route of re-signing a minor league deal after clearing waivers and electing free agency.
The Braves opting to select Azócar's contract is curious, considering that White will only be away from the team for a few days. Atlanta has two other outfielders on the 40-man roster in Gwinnett, including Brewer Hicklen, a righty, who could be optioned back to Gwinnett upon White's return with the risk of losing them to waivers. It appears, however, that the Braves would rather have Azócar up over the next few days, even if it does mean that they potentially lose him when White returns later this week.
Jair Camargo, who made a one-game cameo during the second game of a doubleheader against the Giants, gets the boot off the 40-man roster. Camargo has a .559 OPS this year in Gwinnett, so it's likely the Braves will be able to retain the 27-year-old catcher after he clears waivers.
