Braves News: Truist Park new upgrades, Atlanta adds bullpen depth, TV deal questions
Stadium renovations, signing a relief pitcher, and more of the TV broadcast drama fill up our latest news roundup.
Truist Park received honors earlier this month for the incredible fan experience throughout the battery. Next season the Atlanta Braves are upping the fan experience another level.
Recently, the team announced plans for the addition of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Park, which will be located between the third base gate and left field gate directly outside of the stadium and total 30,000 square feet. Some features include: Blooper's Clubhouse (where kids can take photos with the Braves beloved mascot), Hope & Will's Sandlot, collapsible batting cages, and much more.
Braves sign reliever Enoli Paredes to minor league deal
Elsewhere amongst Braves news was the signing of right-handed reliever and former Brewer, Enoli Paredes. Last season Parades had a 1.66 ERA in 21.2 innings with the Brewers and Cubs. While Parades' surface numbers look great, he has some very worrisome underlying stats that spell trouble for any reliever.
In 2024, Parades had an issue walking hitters (11.5 BB%) and did not strike out batters at a great rate (18.4 K%). His mid 90's fasball and decent slider combo is intriguing enough for the Braves to bring in on a Spring Training invite deal. However, Paredes is out of options so he'll have to Opening Day roster or clear waivers in order to remain in the organization.
MLB and Braves withdraw objection on Diamond Sports Group
The ongoing drama between Diamond Sports Group (parent company of FanDuel Sports Network) will finally make some serious progress this afternoon. The confirmation hearing is set to begin today. Evan Drellich has been covering this story for awhile now, and yesterday he confirmed that both Major League Baseball and the Atlanta Braves withdrew their objection to DSG's get out of bankruptcy plan.
In order for DSG to win the hearing they first needed MLB and the Braves to sign off on their proposed plan, which they both have now done so. It's unclear what the plan to recover for DSG is, but over the coming days we should find many more details out regarding this story. Stay tuned here at HTHB for all the latest on this important court case.
