Unfortunately, the 2025 season did not get off to the start that the Atlanta Braves were hoping for as they fell to the Padres after the bullpen imploded in on itself. There was some good news as the Braves' offense looked in good form after driving Michael King out of the game in the third inning and consistently hitting the ball hard.
With that, the 2025 season is officially underway and the Braves have to some work to do to get back on track. Here are the latest goings on in Braves land other than the result of the game itself.
Braves News: Brian Snitker maintains confidence in bullpen
After a solid, if unspectacular, start from Chris Sale and the offense looking strong, it was a drag to see the bullpen struggle the way that they did. For many Braves fans, the relief corps was the biggest concern heading into the season and Opening Day did little to quell those concerns.
However, manager Brian Snitker was far more optimistic about the bullpen after the game. Not only did he defend Hector Neris' readiness for the season, but he maintained that he is happy with all of the pieces that the team has in the bullpen and "I like where we’re at." Snitker did acknowledge that it is going to take time to figure out who is going to be playing what roles in relief, but he isn't freaking out about one bad game.
Braves News: Gray Media adding pre-game and post-game content to their Braves broadcasts
One of the changes to Braves coverage in 2025 is the addition of 15 games being simulcast on Gray Media's Peachtree TV. While not a major change, it does give fans another option to watch some select games this season especially for those that don't have access to FanDuel Sports Network.
It sounds like Gray Media is looking to lean into this opportunity as it was revealed this week that a pair of shows, ‘Live from the Chop’ and ‘Back to the Chop’, will be accompanying those 15 broadcasts as pre-game and post-game content. ‘Live from the Chop’ will feature Paul Byrd, Lauren Jbara, and Charlie Culberson and focus on the offerings and goings-on around Truist Park while ‘Back to the Chop’ will feature Peter Moylan, Baillie Burmaster, and a rotating cast of guests to discuss news and trends around baseball.
Braves News: Both Keith Law and Ken Rosenthal have Atlanta winning the World Series
Despite coming off a tough 2024 season filled with injuries, there is still a lot of optimism that the Braves would be among the best teams in baseball this season. With a lineup that is already among the top units in MLB and a rotation that has at least two legitimate Cy Young candidates, Atlanta is in a great spot.
That does not seem to have gone unnoticed by two prominent members of The Athletic's staff as both Keith Law and Ken Rosenthal picked the Braves to win the World Series recently. Obviously a lot can happen over the course of a long season (as Atlanta found out the hard way last year), but it is nice to see the optimism around the team at the highest levels.
