The Atlanta Braves' putrid season continued as they lost their series against the Mariners. Seattle put up an absurd amount of runs, and it just added to the misery that 2025 has provided.

Some optimism remains as Atlanta's front office can address needs in the offseason, and the team should have a good shot at getting a top-5 spot for next year's draft. However, instead of remembering the horror of this season, let's take a look at some news around the organization from the last couple of days.

Braves News: Brian Snitker is one win away from impressive career milestone

The Braves need to win at least one more game to help manager Brian Snitker reach career win number 800. It's been a remarkable career for Snit as he's given his life to this organization. Over the last decade, he has led the Braves to a 799-661 record.

There's only one MLB manager with more wins over that span, and that is Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who is at 909 wins. The Athletic's David O'Brien pointed out that one more win would make Snit the 43rd manager in big league history to reach 800 wins with one team.

As far as Braves history goes, this would have him ranked third in franchise history. The only managers with more wins are Frank Selee (1,004) and Bobby Cox (2,149). Many expect Snit will retire after this season. It stinks that his time as manager may end with one of the worst seasons in Atlanta history.

Braves News: Former infielder and well-known manager Davey Johnson sadly passes away

The baseball world has unfortunately lost another great player and manager. Davey Johnson, who played for the Braves from 1973 to 1975, passed away at the age of 82.

Johnson had a distinguished career, as he was a four-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion. He also won three Gold Gloves over his 13-year career with a 27.5 WAR. He did a great job as a manager for 17 years with a 1,372-1,071 record.

He is most known during his three years with the Braves for being part of the first trio of teammates to have 40 homers in a season. Johnson accomplished this with Hank Aaron and Darrell Evans in 1973. He led the team with 43 homers. This set a record for MLB second basemen that remained until Marcus Semien hit 45 homers in 2021.

Braves News: Infielder Luke Williams outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett

Last Thursday, the Braves DFA'd Luke Williams to make room on the roster for Jurickson Profar. However, no one claimed him, and Williams was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday. The Braves could have used him in garbage time innings during Sunday's blowout loss to Seattle.

This move isn't surprising, as he wasn't very good for Atlanta with a slash line of .188/.182/.200 over 38 games. There were some exciting moments on the basepaths and with him pitching in some blowouts.
