Atlanta Braves mascot Blooper was initially revealed to fans in 2018 with mixed feelings at first. However, it wasn't long until Braves fans fully embraced their quirky mascot.
He always provides funny moments during games and even on social media. Blooper isn't one to shy away from hot takes online. Entertainment is his top priority, and there is never a dull moment.
Braves mascot Blooper calls out terrible preseason Chris Sale take after latest award win
Blooper added to this list of moments after Chris Sale was announced as the 2024 NL Comeback Player of the Year. There were a lot of skeptics who believed the Braves made a bad decision with their trade for the former Chicago and Boston great.
Some wondered if Sale's best days were behind him. However, he proved everyone wrong with one of the best seasons by a starting pitcher you could imagine.
Blooper decided he'd come with receipts. He responded to a post from Deadspin (a sports publication) where they stated the Braves had acquired a "washed-up pitcher." Atlanta's mascot simply shared the post, tagged the publication, and asked, "Rebuttal?"
This post gained a lot of attention and proved yet again that the Braves have the best mascot in baseball. Some baseball fans are too stuffy, so it's nice to see someone having a bit of fun with things. Of course, it's understandable why anyone would have thought Chris Sale was "washed-up."
However, he proved to Braves Country and the rest of the league that he still had gas left in the tank. Sale is on track to win his first-ever Cy Young Award. He's come close to winning the award in the past but has never taken the trophy home. It's bizarre that a pitcher of his caliber has never won the illustrious award.
However, he exceeded expectations, which allowed Blooper to have his moment to gloat online and prove the naysayers wrong. Atlanta is lucky to have such a loyal mascot who provides some hilarious moments to fans. After all, baseball is meant to be fun, and Bloop is our reminder to keep that perspective.
