The Atlanta Braves have been abnormally busy lately when it comes to making waiver claims. Most of the additions have been for arms as the Braves' pitching staff has been riddled with injuries and late season fatigue. However, there has been movement on both sides of Atlanta's roster and their latest move to help cover for Sean Murphy's injury comes at the expense of the Dodgers.
Just a few days ago, catcher Chuckie Robinson got an unexpected opportunity in LA when word got out that Will Smith is going to be out for a while with a hand injury. However, that opportunity would be fleeting as Dalton Rushing was activated and the Dodgers opted to try and sneak Robinson through the waiver wire.
That attempt was unsuccessful as the Braves went out and claimed Robinson off of the waiver wire and moved Daysbel Hernandez to the 60-day IL.
#Braves claimed C Chuckie Robinson off waivers from the Dodgers and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. To make room on the 40-man roster, they transferred RHP Daysbel Hernández to the 60-day IL.

Braves steal catcher Chuckie Robinson from Dodgers with their latest waiver claim
Moving Hernandez to the 60-day is a formality. Since he was placed on the IL with shoulder troubles in the middle of September, the odds that he was going to play again this season at all were slim to none. Making that move is the simplest roster solution when it comes to making space, although the Atlanta has more than a few buttons they can press to make room if the need arises.
As for Robinson, he is catching depth and nothing more. Drake Baldwin is going to get most of the work behind the plate and with older veteran Sandy Leon being the only other catching option available at the moment, bringing in a fresh body isn't the worst idea in the event Baldwin needs a day off or gets dinged up.
The added benefit, of course, is that Atlanta also stole some depth from the Dodgers that they would have probably preferred to keep. Smith's injury has his availability in the postseason very much in question and LA's catching depth drops off a good bit after Rushing. It probably wasn't the driving force to claim Robinson, but it sure is a nice added benefit.
