Boy, that escalated quickly... I mean, that really got out of hand fast.

There have been some iconic moments in Atlanta Braves history. That's expected when you have a franchise as storied as the Braves. Plenty of those moments come from the players on the field. However, sometimes the iconic moments come from their managers. Bobby Cox was well known for arguing intensely with umpires when he disagreed with calls. That's something fans will always remember him for.

These iconic moments also extended to the minor league system for the Braves. If anyone has been a fan of the team for a while now, they'll remember one minor league manager in particular who had one of the most iconic blowups in history.

Phillip Wellman's explosive outburst will continue to be one of the funniest ejections in Braves and baseball history

Phillip Wellman managed the Mississippi Braves from 2007 to 2010. This iconic moment came during his first season as manager. On June 1st, 2007, Wellman was ejected during a game against the Chattanooga Lookouts. He didn't take kindly to the ejection and provided fans with an unexpected show.

Wellman started by giving the home plate umpire a tongue lashing. He then kicked dirt on home plate and drew the umpire's strike zone in the soil before he tossed third base into the outfield. Wellman's next move was the most hilarious of them all as he army crawled to the mound. Once there, he tossed the rosin bag like a grenade at the ump. Once he was done with that, he walked off with second and third base.

Those bases were eventually tossed into the outfield. Wellman turned to the crowd to blow them a kiss and threw up his fist before he exited the field. No matter how long it has been since seeing that video, it will give anyone a nice laugh. The absurdity of just doing whatever he could to disturb the peace is hilarious. How the umpires kept their composure during something so ludicrous is beyond comprehension.

Wellman will forever be remembered for this moment. He managed for a while after leaving the Braves in 2010. His last managerial post was with the El Paso Chihuahuas in 2023.
