The wild card series is officially here and the Atlanta Braves finally revealed their rosters and lineup for game of the series. Atlanta’s offense is stacked up pretty well for their first test of the playoffs. They’ll have a tough customer in Jesus Luzardo, who had great success against them last time.
However, Luzardo is being used as an opener this time, since he did pitch an inning during the final game of the season. The lineup set by Walt Weiss is indicative of that as he tried to keep it as even as possible.

Braves focus on alternating handedness with their Game One lineup against the Phillies
Instead of stacking right-handed bats to face the lefty, there are plenty of left-handed bats spread throughout the lineup. It’s a good lineup that has plenty of depth and potential to score a few runs.
Lane Thomas being injured stinks as he has always been a lefty killer. His injury is why Dubón is in the outfield and why Ha-Seong Kim is starting at shortstop. Kim hasn’t been the best at the plate this season. However, he has given the Braves some clutch hits in big spots. His competency on defense also doesn’t hurt.
There’s a good bit of playoff experience with this lineup. And the Braves need them all to step up and make major impacts. That’s easier said than done and fans are right to be skeptical. Atlanta’s offense has been so inconsistent this season, especially against left-handed pitching.
The good news is that the postseason is a fresh start for everyone involved. Atlanta has the right mentality to make a deep postseason run and they’ll need to prove to everyone that they belong.
