A day after claiming Ha-Seong Kim off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays, the Atlanta Braves activated him to the major league squad. Additionally, the club finally called up their top relief prospect, Hayden Harris.

To make room for the pair on the active roster, Jurickson Profar was placed on the paternity list and Hunter Stratton was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett. To make room for Kim and Harris on the 40-man roster, Wander Suero was designated for assignment.

Hayden Harris and Ha-Seong Kim join the Braves in series of roster moves

After months of fans lobbying for Harris' promotion, the Braves finally obliged. The 26-year-old lefty has spent the year dominating Double-A and Triple-A batters, allowing just three earned runs in 48 innings with a paltry 0.73 WHIP between the two levels.

Harris's success in the minors, coupled with the Braves lack of success in the bullpen in the past two months caused confusion why the prospect was continually being passed over. Finally, a day after opting for a different bullpen prospect, Harris will get his shot in the majors.

Kim also joins the Braves active roster just a day after being claimed off waivers from the Rays. The former Padres infielder signed with the Rays over the offseason knowing he'd miss most of the first half of the season recovering from a shoulder injury. However, since being activated on July 3, Kim has had two additional IL stints, including one on August 21, which the 29-year-old is just coming back from.

Kim has had a disappointing season when active, slashing .214/.290/.321 with a 72 wRC+. The Braves are hoping that Kim can bounce back to his 2022-2024 sucess, where he was a league-average bat.

With Profar going on the paternity list, Atlanta will likely need to make another roster move in the coming days to activate him, with Luke Williams, Vidal Brujan, Nacho Alvarez, and even Eli White vulnerable to being booted from the roster.
