When Atlanta Braves outfielder Jurickson Profar was suspended for testing position for PEDs, a lot of fans of the Braves' rivals blasted him and Atlanta for quite a while online. While the impulse to do so is understandable and many Braves fans would do the same in their position, it isn't like Atlanta knew that Profar was juicing when they signed him and the insults did open the door to respond in kind if the opportunity came up. Well, that day has come.

Braves fans know Jose Alvarado for being a really tough lefty reliever to deal with in high leverage situations and for also being a bit of baby when it comes to the state of the actual mound and his constant need to have it repaired by the grounds crew. He also seems to be a bit of a coffee-phile.

Unfortunate for the Phillies, Alvarado made the news on Sunday for a much more unfortunate reason as Alvarado was handed an 80-game suspension from MLB for testing positive for PEDs. Well, well, well...

Phillies closer Jose Alvarado suspended for PEDs and Braves fans kept their receipts

Alvarado tested positive for a banned form of testosterone and now the Phillies bullpen is in big trouble. Philly was already struggling to fill the void left by Jeff Hoffman when he signed with Toronto and now they will have to figure out how to survived without their arguably best reliever.

Moreover, some Phillies fans definitely have some crow to eat today. There were a lot of Philly fans that were trying to take the moral high ground when Profar got suspended and dragged the Braves for days and days. Here is one such gem.

So, if you know any Phillies fans, remind them that Jose Alvarado is not eligible for the playoffs if they make it. As for the Braves, they can at least say that they weren't the only contender to lose a guy to a PED suspension. It is going to be very interesting to see how the Braves integrate Profar into their lineup once he returns, but losing Alvarado for the bulk of the rest of the season may actually be a greater blow.
