Atlanta Braves fans have long appreciated the talent and career of Andruw Jones even if a segment of Hall of Fame voters refuse to do so. While Andruw was dangerous at the plate, what he was best known for was for being arguably the best defensive centerfielder to ever play the game. As it turns out, his Gold Glove genes may have been passed down to his son.
Druw Jones, Andruw's son, has had trouble living up to his billing as the #2 overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. He hasn't played badly or anything and he has shown some flashes here and there, but being a perennial .260 hitter with speed and a bit of pop isn't exactly what you expect from a high draft pick with Jones' pedigree.
However, it does seem as though that both Jones' have a penchant for greatness in center field as Druw made a tremendous catch recently that was eerily similar to a play (or several if we are being honest) that his dad made with the Braves.

Andruw Jones' son Druw seems to have inherited his dad's defensive chops
It is a certainty that Druw is tired of being compared to his dad, but even he cannot deny how close these two players are. Even when they held the ball up after making the play was similar. Baseball has a funny way of connecting things sometimes.
We already knew that the younger Jones was a good fielder and he can certainly run. However, he has yet to put up offensive numbers his dad did in the minors. In fairness to Druw, few players have ever put together a run like Andruw did in the minors. Go ahead and look up his 1996 season where he had a 30/30 season in the minors in just 116 games. That was fun.
It is heartwarming to see Druw take us Braves fans back to the days when Andruw was patrolling center field and doing something once a night that made us all say "wow". The younger Jones may not be wearing a Braves uniform, but that doesn't mean he can't make his dad's fans smile if only for a moment.
