As much as some in the media are hoping for a more drastic teardown, it some seem like the Atlanta Braves are settling into a role of modest sellers at the trade deadline. The Braves aren't going to go insane and trade Ronald Acuña Jr or anything like that, but pending free agents feel likely to get moved or at least be in trade discussion. However, a broader remaking of Atlanta's roster could be coming during the offseason.

Given the nature of the Braves' problems in 2025, it is hard to see a great path forward that involves actual roster moves. They have been so banged up that drawing too many conclusions is tough and the guys that have regressed (Ozzie Albies, Michael Harris II, etc.) are guys that have strong track records and who are under contract for multiple years. As tempting as it may be, jumping ship because of a bad season is very often unwise.

However, it does appear as though the Braves could be making some big changes this coming offseason as Atlanta is already signaling guys like Albies, Harris, and Sean Murphy may be available once the 2025 comes to an end according to reporting from USA Today's Bob Nightengale.

Braves could unload Ozzie Albies, Sean Murphy, and/or Michael Harris II this coming offseason if rumors are to be believed

As wild as it seems, this is a scenario that could unfold. The regression from Albies and Harris this season is already putting a big dent in their value and Atlanta risks getting literal nothing for them if they don't at least entertain trades for them. Oddly enough, it may be more likely they get traded this coming offseason if they start playing better through the end of the season.

As for Murphy, he has done his job and it wouldn't be crazy to see Atlanta keep him especially with Ozuna likely headed out at the trade deadline or, at minimum, the end of the season. However, the Braves do also have Drake Baldwin at catcher who is both very good and very cheap. Moving Murphy feels less likely until Baldwin is more established and the Braves have another plan for the DH spot, but Atlanta should at least listen this coming offseason.

Whatever names end up getting moved, it is clear that the Braves are going to be open for business this coming offseason. What they are doing right now is not getting the job done and if Atlanta needs to move some guys who are under contract for a while to get what they need, they would be crazy not to do it.
