The Los Angeles Dodgers have a clear plan to sign everyone available in the league and leave nothing but scraps for other teams when in-season injuries occur. Joking aside, the Dodgers continued to bulk up their depth by signing the very man that was their kryptonite during the 2021 NLCS. Atlanta Braves legend and 2021 NLCS MVP, Eddie Rosario, has reportedly agreed to a minor league deal with the Dodgers for the 2025 season.
Braves postseason hero Eddie Rosario signs minor league deal with Dodgers
This makes the second 2021 Braves postseason hero to sign with a big market nemesis this week. The Dodgers are absolutely stacked everywhere on their roster, so breaking through in the Major League outfield mix will be a tall task for Rosario. Especially when considering the year Rosario is coming off of in 2024.
Last season Rosario had the second worst fWAR (-2.0) in baseball amongst players with at least 50 plate appearances ahead of only Brandon Drury. Rosario had one hot stretch with the Nationals in early May, but other than that his time and Washington and return to Atlanta mostly produced poor results.
It's part of what motivated the Braves to finally invest big in left field with the Profar signing. After years of the Rosario/Duvall/Kelenic shuffle since 2021, Profar is projected to the first full-time left fielder the Braves have had in quite some time.
As for Rosario, he enters his age 33 season hoping to produce enough to extend his career. As mentioned breaking through on the Dodgers initial 26-man roster is a tough order, but if Rosario hits well enough in the spring it may be enough to earn him a spot a White Sox or Marlins type roster. Unfortunately, Braves fans will have to witness Rosario in Dodger blue for at least the spring. Perhaps turning on 2021 NLCS highlights will be enough to cure those future images from our brains.
