Monitoring prospects is always a fun exercise for fans craving long-term success. The Atlanta Braves have enjoyed that level of success better than nearly every team in MLB outside of the Dodgers. Despite the rough last two seasons, the Atlanta Braves still have all the makings of a contending team. The core players on the MLB roster have star power, and the margins can be improved with some of the emerging prospects in the system.
One of the most intriguing prospects in the system is Atlanta's top ranked prospect, LHP Cam Caminiti. The 2024 first round pick has enjoyed plenty of success during his first full season of pro ball. In 2025, Caminiti finished with a 3.09 ERA, and 90 strikeouts in 70 innings across the lower levels on the minor leagues.
After combing through Baseball America’s updated scouting report on Caminiti, we learned that much of his 2025 success stemmed from a series of adjustments. Furthermore, the report noted that the Braves have urged Caminiti to focus on another area of his game to fully reach the heights the current No. 72 prospect in baseball is capable of

Adjustments helped Cam Caminiti shine last season, and the Braves keep adding tasks to his plate
The list of changes Caminiti implemented last season was extensive. According to Baseball America, Caminiti lowered his arm slot, gained extension, improved his four-seam performance, and began throwing a kick changeup. All of these tweaks helped him produce results while simultaneously developing as a pitcher.
Heading into 2026, the Braves have expressed a desire for Caminiti to tinker with his breaking ball to find a more consistent shape. The hope is that Caminiti can add a harder, shorter breaking ball to his arsenal next season. If he is successful in meeting those challenges from the coaching staff, he could find himself in the upper half of midseason prospect lists.
Caminiti is often mentioned in trade talks when Braves fans begin to search for quality pieces to add to the Major League roster. Trading high-end prospects is the cost of acquiring big league starters, but if Caminiti continues to ascend the case to trade him becomes much harder given his ceiling.
The Braves top prospect received votes from MLB execs for best pitchability, which describes a pitcher's feel for arsenal, and ability to command his pitches in the strike zone. That is a testament to the talent of Caminiti. He seems to have a high floor, and as he continues to mature we can't help but dream about the ceiling for this young lefty.
