The 2025 World Series has begun, and we are just seven games away from reaching the offseason. Atlanta Braves fans are likely very anxious to see what exactly the front office has in store. They have a lot of things to shore up before next season begins.
The team could look into some former and current trade targets to fill those needs. Let's take a look at a few players who could find themselves in Atlanta next year.
Here are some previous trade targets the Braves could try to scoop up this offseason
Sonny Gray
Gray has been linked to the Braves a few times over the years, but nothing has ever materialized. However, there is already talk this offseason that Atlanta could trade for the two-time All-Star pitcher. The right-hander posted a 4.28 ERA in 2025 over 180.2 innings (32 starts) with 38 walks and 201 strikeouts. It wouldn't be a bad idea to consider, as Atlanta needs someone who can eat innings. The only issue is that Gray comes with a hefty price tag terms of salary.
Pete Fairbanks
With Raisel Iglesias' future in question, the Braves may have to look into snagging Rays reliever Pete Fairbanks. He has a club option for 2026, so Atlanta will have a chance to either trade for him or sign him should he hit free agency. He was impressive in 2025, with a 2.83 ERA over a career-high 60.1 innings pitched. Fairbanks struck out 59 batters, issued 18 walks, and saved 27 games. He could fit very nicely in the backend of Atlanta's bullpen.
Dylan Cease
Cease has been tied to the Braves as a trade target in the past. Naturally, the first connection is that he's a Georgia native. But he's also a great piece for the rotation when he's on his game. There's a chance he could be a fit for Atlanta in free agency, but he is a Boras client, which could prove to be a challenge. Not only that, but Cease had a rough season with a 4.55 ERA over 168 innings.
This included 71 walks and 215 strikeouts. His main issues stemmed from poor walk, barrel, and ground ball rates. However, he continued to be elite in fastball velocity, strikeout, whiff, and chase percentage. He could fit well into Atlanta's rotation, but it's a move that could backfire on them.
Bo Bichette
Bichette has been listed many times as a great fit for Atlanta in a trade. However, it has never made a lot of sense due to the high cost. He will hit free agency at the end of the season. Bichette had an amazing offensive season for Toronto with a .311 average, 18 homers, 44 doubles, 94 RBI, and a 134 wRC+. Those are excellent numbers, but they will make him desirable to many teams.
Money is one thing, but another reason he may not land in Atlanta is his absolutely horrific defense. The team would have to be okay with sacrificing excellent defense for offense. Bichette was good, but he isn't known for walking a lot, and he chases the ball a ton. He will likely be priced out for the Braves, and that's fine because Ha-Seong Kim is a better defender with great offensive potential.
