3 free agents whose plummeting stocks are a great opportunity for the Braves

Under Alex Anthopoulos, the Atlanta Braves have been very opportunistic. While some of the moves look weird in the moment, the Braves are one of the league's busiest teams when it comes to looking under every stone for players that can help them. Sometimes, they are minor additions that end up not being used at all and get forgotten in short order. Other times, you get Ha-Seong Kim via a waiver claim that no one saw coming.

Free agency has been the same story. Usually, no one knows what the Braves are up to until there is an announcement from the team of a signing, trade, or whatever. What we do know is that Atlanta is always on the lookout for quality pitching at the right price and as we get closer to spring training, there are a few candidates whose price tags may be dropping.

Here are the free agents left whose prices may have fallen into the Braves' sweet spot

There are a ton of arms still available in free agency and the goal here isn't to identify every single one of them as that would be both tedious and pretty useless. Instead, these are the free agents that have either already been connected to the Braves or fit the profile of the type of player they may be looking at right now.

Chris Bassitt

Chris Bassitt is an easy choice here as he has already been connected to the Braves recently. He wouldn't be contending for a Cy Young (probably) at this point in his career, but Bassitt is a consistent innings eater that keeps his teams in games almost always. With all of the injuries the Braves have had to deal with on both sides of the ball, that sort of consistency has a lot of value. He also shouldn't be crazy expensive nor will he be commanding a long-term deal.

Zach Littell

Now, Littell is not a perfect fit as the Braves prefer pitchers that miss more bats than he does. However, Littell's fastball grades out quite well despite him not throwing particular hard and that is a quality that would give the Braves something to work with. Littell also pounds the strike zone which would be nice as the 4/5 starters in previous rotations could...well, be generous when it comes to giving up extra baserunners.

Danny Coulombe

Bullpen depth is crucial for any team and having guys who are experienced in high leverage situations, even if they have never been "closers", is really helpful as fatigue in the bullpen starts to set in. Danny Coulombe still being available this late in the offseason is kind of wild even with his injury history as he has averaged a 2.60 ERA and 3.22 FIP while striking out roughly a batter an innings. Depending on the price tag, Coulombe could be a steal.
