While we wait for the organization to make a move at the major league level, the Atlanta Braves have made two additional minor league signings in Joe Hudson and Hudson Potts. Hudson was assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett, while Potts was assigned to Double-A Mississippi.

Beginning with Hudson, the former sixth round pick back in the 2012 draft is currently a 31-year-old catcher who last appeared in the major leagues in 2020 with Seattle. In fact, Hudson has only appeared in 18 career MLB games, which came from 2018-20 with three different organizations.

Hudson recently spent the 2022 minor league season in the Tampa Bay Rays organization with Triple-A Durham, which happened to be one of the best single seasons of his career. Across 49 games with the Bulls, Hudson would slash .226/.346/.489 with an .835 OPS, as well as 11 HR, 27 RBI, and a 49:25 K:BB ratio.

A career .222/.311/.351 hitter across nine minor league seasons, Hudson is likely a catching depth option at the Triple-A level, and should he potentially see time in the major leagues, it would come in a limited role.

Potts however is a 24-year-old third baseman who was a former first round pick by the San Diego Padres back in the 2016 MLB Draft. Potts also saw a significant amount of action at first base this past season appearing in 53 games.

Potts has spent the last two seasons at the Double-A level of the Boston Red Sox organization, most recently slashing .234/.297/.454 with 14 HR, 44 RBI, and a 93:25 K:BB ratio across 75 games this past season. This was a bounce back year for the 24-year-old as Potts held only a .662 OPS with Double-A Portland the year prior, as well as a 100:16 K:BB ratio.

A player who has only appeared in two games at the Triple-A level, Potts is a candidate to see time in Gwinnett at some point in 2023, even despite being assigned to Double-A Mississippi.
