Even though there is a lot of work left to do, the Atlanta Braves have already clinched a spot in the 2022 postseason with two weeks left.

When every season starts the main goal for any team — and the hope of every fan — is that you remain competitive and have a chance to reach the postseason. The Atlanta Braves and their fans have been fortunate to have that happen for five straight seasons now.

With the Braves 3-2 win on Tuesday combined with the New York Mets comeback win over the Brewers, Atlanta has now clinched a spot in the 2022 postseason.

And while we still have our sights set on winning the division, clinching a postseason berth is nothing to scoff at.

The team chose not to celebrate on Tuesday night, but more of that had to do with the fact they have to turn around and play an early game on Wednesday.

But this is a great accomplishment for this franchise.

The 14-year run in the 90s and 2000s may have spoiled some fans in my generation, but generally, most teams don’t see runs like the Braves are on.

There are nine teams right now who haven’t even made the postseason in the past five years.

The Phillies (10) and Mariners (20) are hoping to end their long playoff droughts this year.

Atlanta has had a couple of four year droughts recently not making the postseason from 2006-2009 and then again from 2014-2017.

It’s also each to fade away after winning a World Series. Look at recent World Series winners like the Royals (2015), Chicago Cubs (2016), and Washington Nationsl (2019) who are currently in tough rebuilds.

This Braves team has proven in 2022 that last season wasn’t a one-hit wonder and they are here to compete for years to come.

Certainly with the youth on this team, Braves fans are hoping to create a dynasty similar to those 90s and 2000s teams.

While we continue to hope for bigger accomplishments in 2022, let’s not take for granted where this team is right now and how special this run is they are on.
