Braves News: Ozzie Albies out for season with another heartbreaking injury
Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies is going to miss more time after suffering yet another injury.
Just a day after returning from the injured list, Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies will be heading back to it after injuring his pinky finger Saturday night against the Philadelphia Phillies. He was stealing second base when the injury occurred.
Mark Bowman of MLB.com reported that Albies will miss the remainder of the regular season, but he could potentially return at some point in the postseason. Albies was 1-for-4 with two RBIs in his return game last night, and was 1-for-1 with two runs tonight before his injury.
On the year, Albies has hit .247 with eight home runs and 35 RBIs.
This is devastating for Albies, considering he had just returned from a foot injury that kept him on the shelf for three months. The Braves were hoping his return would provide another spark for the team, as they battle with the New York Mets for the NL East division. The Braves are currently a game behind New York.
It did look as if Ronald Acuña Jr. was energized to have Ozzie back in the lineup. Ronald hit a go ahead two-run home run last night, and he homered again tonight. Having a red hot Acuña late in September is a valuable asset for the Braves.
Luckily for the Braves, rookie Vaughn Grissom has been playing very well since his call up from AA Mississippi. In 32 games, Grissom has hit .301 with five homers and 16 RBIs. He and fellow rookie Michael Harris II have been important pieces of Atlanta’s offense this season.
Hopefully Ozzie will be able to return at some point in the postseason for the Braves.
