Among all of the surprises around baseball this season, Dylan Lee has been one that Atlanta Braves fans continue to be thankful for.

Despite starting the season with the Gwinnett Stripers, Dylan Lee has gradually begun to assert himself as one of the more reliable members of the Atlanta Braves bullpen.

In his 27.1 innings pitched this season, Lee has compiled a 1.32 ERA, walking just three batters while striking out 30.

He has also posted an impressive 0.80 WHIP so far this season, ranking first among Braves pitchers who have at least 10 innings of work.

After walking catcher Carson Kelly in the final game of the Braves’ series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, his strikeout-to-walk ratio now sits at a perfect 10 K/BB.

Lee has had a very impressive month of July, surrendering just one run across 11 and 1/3 innings of work.

Included in his impressive July is three straight three-strikeout innings, with two being against the Washington Nationals. The final inning of this streak was against the Los Angeles Angels, where he struck out AL MVP candidate Shohei Ohtani to close out his appearance.

Lee’s most used pitch in his arsenal is his four-seam fastball, which is utilized 47.5% of the time. Opponents are batting just .146 against this pitch, with just one extra-base hit being registered off of his fastball this season.

Opponents bat just .211 against his curveball, which is utilized 42.5% of the time. Lee also has a 36.8 putaway percentage with his curveball and a 48.9% whiff percentage.

With the emergence of Lee being paired with a solid season of work from Jackson Stephens, the Atlanta Braves have had great bullpen work from multiple players that many didn’t expect.

With his proven success in higher-leverage situations, expect Brian Snitker and company to turn to  Lee in those situations as the season continues.
