Two days after Ozzie Albies fractured his left foot against the Washington Nationals, the Atlanta Braves announced that he underwent successful surgery to stabilize the fracture in his foot.

While the timetable for Albies’ recovery has yet to be determined, the earliest he will be able to return to the club is Aug. 13 with his placement on the 60-day injured list announced yesterday afternoon by the Braves.

The Atlanta Braves said that the the surgery was done by Dr. Robert Anderson in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Anderson, who is employed by Bellin Health Titletown Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, has a proven track record with athletes in every sport.

Braves pitcher Mike Soroka also used Anderson for all three of his surgeries that he’s had to undergo during his Atlanta Braves career. Soroka is set to return later this season after suffering season-ending achilles injuries in back-to-back seasons.

Anderson’s other former clients include Yankees Hall of Famer Derek Jeter, Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes and NFL wide receivers Davante Adams and Van Jefferson.

Ozzie Albies was placed on the 60-day injured list by the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday afternoon, with the club bringing up veteran infielder Phil Gosselin in a corresponding move to fill the roster hole.

Veteran infielder Orlando Arcia will take the place of Albies as the starting second baseman for the time being.

Arcia started in Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Nationals in place of Albies, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning. After last night’s game, Arcia has posted a .327/.393/.519 slash line to go along with two home runs and 10 RBI this season.

This announcement provides some encouraging news for the Braves, who now have Albies, Tyler Matzek, Eddie Rosario, Mike Soroka and Kirby Yates on the injured list. Amid the team’s 13-game win streak, the return of these players from injury could provide a huge boost to the already surging Braves squad.
