The Atlanta Braves are seeing a shift in their playoff odds during a huge winning streak

Early on, the Atlanta Braves seemed poised for a disappointing season after winning the World Series last year. Nothing seemed to be working:  before the winning streak, Atlanta barely had a 50% chance of making the playoffs.

Fast forward to today and the Braves have become the hottest team in baseball and sit only five games back from first place in the NL East.

The Braves have gotten their win streak up to 13 games and have seen a huge shift in their playoff odds according to FanGraphs.

Fans will be happy to know that the entire league has started to take notice. The Atlanta Braves now have a 83.9% chance of making the playoffs.

The Atlanta Braves have a shot to repeat as World Series champions

Even more important than the shift in playoff odds, the Braves have also seen their odds to win the World Series rise as well. Atlanta currently has a 10.9% chance of winning the World Series.

No team has repeated as champions since the Yankees did it way back in 2000. The Braves look to have a real shot at being able to pull it off.

The Braves’ 10.9% chance at winning the World Series represents the fifth-best odds amongst all teams in Major League Baseball.

In my opinion, the Braves haven’t even reached their full potential yet. The Braves even during this win streak have been without a slew of key players due to injuries.

Before the season ends, you’ll see returns from guys like Tyler Matzek, Mike Soroka, Eddie Rosario, Luke Jackson, Kirby Yates, and the recently injured Ozzie Albies.

Those additions will improve the team. I also think some of our young players will see more improvement. Michael Harris just recently found his power stroke, hitting two homers in his last two games.

With all of these factors, expect the Braves’ odds to continue to rise in their pursuit of another championship.
