FanSided Mock MLB Hall of Fame Vote: Andruw Jones Just Misses Cut

For the third straight year, FanSided’s MLB experts filled out an MLB Hall of Fame ballot. Andruw Jones made significant ground this time around. 

Major League Baseball will reveal the 2022 MLB Hall of Fame class on Tuesday, but before that, the MLB experts at FanSided had their own vote.

After only voting in Derek Jeter in 2020 and nobody in 2021, the MLB experts voted in three players for the 2022 class.

That list includes Barry Bonds (83 percent), David Ortiz (80 percent), and Roger Clemens (77 percent).

This seems to be the case among the actual BBWAA voters as well, but I don’t understand how there is such a larger percentage of people who vote for Bonds and not Clemens.

If you vote for one, you have to vote for the other as statistically they’re two of the best to ever play the game. The only reason not to vote for either is if you just don’t vote for steroid users.

I’m actually surprised Ortiz was that low — I think he’s the only one that actually gets in when it’s announced on Tuesday.

MLB Hall of Fame — Andruw Jones First One Out

I was very happy to see that Andruw Jones was close to getting in, and was actually the first person outside of those top three who were voted in at 69 percent. That’s up 10 percent from where he was in our 2021 mock voting.

It certainly seems like Andruw Jones is trending in the right direction with five years left on the ballot.

We’ve certainly stated our case for Andruw Jones on the site over the years, including my top five reasons why he belongs in the MLB Hall of Fame.

There are those who don’t feel that way and here are the reasons for that.

For me, it’s easy, he’s the best defensive center fielder of all time and played that way for nearly a decade. That level of excellence for that period of time deserves to be enshrined in the MLB Hall of Fame.
