Atlanta Braves’ Goals for the New Year in 2022
A new year brings a fresh outlook on life and a chance to regain perspective. Coming off a World Series championship, what are some goals for the Atlanta Braves in 2022?
There may be some Atlanta Braves fans that don’t want to turn the page and just want to continue to bask in the glory of the 2021 World Series.
But life must go on, and while we still celebrate an incredible 2021 season, we look forward to what we could see in 2022 — assuming a new CBA is agreed upon soon and we get a somewhat normal season.
So what are some goals for the Braves in 2022?
Braves 2022 Goals — Sign Freddie Freeman
Let’s start with the obvious, and that is signing Freddie Freeman. While it’s not the only option at first base, it “should” be the easiest option and one that needs to happen as soon as possible.
I’d expect the two sides to really get after once the lockout is ended and I’m going to guess a deal gets done for 6 years and $165 million.
Braves 2022 Goals — Don’t Get Complacent
It’s really hard to repeat as champions in any sport — especially baseball. It hasn’t been done in baseball since the 1998-2000 Yankees.
However, that doesn’t mean it can’t happen or won’t happen.
But the one thing the Braves cannot let happen is complacency. This is not a team that’s at the end of a rebuild with a lot of expiring contracts that they acquired to win a World Series — this is a team still in the middle of a contention window with a lot of young superstars.
Even if they aren’t able to repeat, I still want to see this team play with confidence knowing they can be the best team in all of baseball.
Braves 2022 Goals — Spend Money
You just won a World Series, had the second-highest attendance total in all of baseball, and made a killing off The Battery. It’s time for Atlanta to start spending like the big market franchise they should be.
