As the 2021 Arizona Fall League begins the wind-down later this month, so is the impressive season from Atlanta Braves first baseman Drew Lugbauer.
While the Atlanta Braves sent many players to this year’s Arizona Fall League, which included a few of the organization’s Top 30 overall prospects, the one player who has posted the most-impressive stretch across the past couple of weeks is 25-year-old 1B/DH/Catcher Drew Lugbauer.
A former 11th round pick by Atlanta back in the 2017 MLB Draft out of Michigan, Lugbauer recently finished his fifth season in the Braves organization with Double-A Mississippi, one that included arguably the best single-season of his young professional career.
Posting a .223/.331/.453 slash line with 18 home runs and 51 RBI’s across 86 games in Mississippi, Lugbauer was impressive against Double-A pitching this season, and that has carried over to the Arizona Fall League.

Playing with the Peoria Javelinas alongside other Braves’ prospects, Lugbauer entered play on Tuesday having appeared in 10 games so far this fall. One of the top overall hitters in this year’s Arizona Fall League, the 25-year-old’s numbers speak-to just how good Lugbauer has been.
Making a total of 42 at-bats, Lugbauer has slashed a combined .441/.548/.882 so far this season while drawing eight walks compared to 12 strikeouts. Posting a perfect fielding percentage across eight starts at first base, Lugbauer has also collected a total of 15 hits, five of which were home runs, while also driving in 13 runs.
Lugbauer still has room to add to his impressive numbers between now and the Peoria season finale on November 19. Whether he continues to add to those numbers or not, the 2021 season overall has truly been an impressive one for the former 11th round pick.
