5. Heroics and Loss of Charlie Morton
Unfortunately, when we think of this World Series a lot of us will remember the fact the Braves lost their Game 1 starter in the third inning of Game 1.
But not only that, we’ll remember the heroics of Charlie Morton and how he managed to retire three straight batters on a broken leg, including a strikeout of Altuve with the last pitch he threw.
A bittersweet memory there losing Morton, but I’ll always remember the toughness he displaced in trying to go back out there for his team.
4. Near No-hitter in Game 3
The first World Series home game since 1999 had an ominous feel to it with it being cold and misty. But most will remember the brilliant outing by a young Ian Anderson who tossed 5 scoreless, hitless innings.
The Braves pitching staff took a no-hitter into the eighth inning of Game 3 against the best offense in all of baseball in 2021.
Some might still question if Snitker should have given Anderson a chance to finish the no-hitter, but in a 1-0 game it was the right move to call on the Night Shift to finished the job.
They combined for a two-hit shutout and the Braves won their first World Series game at home since 1995.
