The World Series shifts back to Houston where the Atlanta Braves will have another chance to wrap things up — this time with Max Fried on the mound.

After starting rookies in three straight World Series games, the Atlanta Braves will turn to their 27-year-old “veteran” in Game 6 against the Houston Astros.

It will be the Astros turn to send out a rookie in 24-year-old Luis Garcia.

Braves Lineup for Game 6

Snit decided to shake things up in Game 6

Braves Game 6 Starting Pitcher: Max Fried

Fried got off to a rough start in Game 2 giving up a run in the first and 4 in the second. That second inning had a  lot of unfortunate events that didn’t go the Braves way.

After that, he retired 10 straight batters and was sent back out for the 6th inning, but he gave up a walk and a single before getting pulled.

His final line was: 5-plus innings pitched, 7 hits, 1 walk, 7 runs, 6 earned runs, and 6 strikeouts on 86 pitches.

He should be well-rested and ready to go.

Interestingly, it was the lefties (Brantley and Tucker) who hit Fried the hardest in Game 2. That will be something to keep an eye on.

Braves vs. Astros Game 6 Prediction

The formula for the Braves winning in this series has been simple — not easy, but simple — holds the Astros to 2 runs or less.

That’s what they’ve done in each of their three wins.

However, that’s a big ask against the best offense in all of baseball. This will likely be the Braves’ best chance to get it done with Fried starting and the Night Shift fully rested.

Fried can’t give up the early run and he has to avoid the big inning. If he can get through 5 or 6 innings giving up 2 runs or less and then hand it off to Jackson, Matzek, and Smith the Braves have a real chance.

On the other side, the offense needs to step up. I know they got the grand slam in the first inning of Game 5, but as Snitker said after that game, you were really hoping they were going to continue to add onto that and they ddin’t.

Houston is fighting for their lives and will use their best pitchers to try and get through this game limiting the Braves’ offense.

On paper, this seems like a matchup that favors the Braves, and that’s why it scares me to pick them because baseball never goes the way it should.

But I’ll say the Braves do just enough, once again, to get it done and win 4-3.
