After an intense contest Friday night, the Atlanta Braves put their 2-games-to-1 lead on the line with a Saturday event bullpen Game 4 event.

Now the real work begins for our Atlanta Braves.

With a limited slate of “established” starting pitchers, Brian Snitker‘s troops are going to have to break out their MacGyver kits of bubble gum, duct tape, tie wraps, and a Swiss Army knife to get through the next pair of games.

The good news? There are a few points in our favor:

  • We’re on friendly turf and have a lead in the series.
  • While the pitchers for tonight have limited experience, the Astros haven’t seen them, either.
  • Zack Greinke — tonight’s starter for the Astros — has been struggling mightily in his last 4 outings… and aside from the short playoff stint, those came against Texas (twice) and Kansas City.

The bad news?

  • The Astros offense could break out at any point against any pitcher tonight.

So let’s see if the Braves can at least match the output of their bats, and by doing so, chew through their bullpen arms.  This is, after all, a lengthy series and extra pitches today could pay dividends later.

So Dylan Lee will be up first… and making some history in the process.  You can expect that the plan on any of these pitchers for the Braves tonight is “one time through the order at most”, so anywhere between 0 and 3 innings, depending on the results.

When does the Braves Game start tonight?

Braves vs. Astros Odds for Game 4

The Astros remain the favorite, according to WynnBET, but it is razor-close with the Braves at -108 and the Astros at -107 on the Moneyline.

The Over/Under point is set at 8.5 games (total), with the “over” at -120 and the under +100 at this time.

Atlanta Braves lineup vs. right-hander Greinke

The Braves continue to do enough to win… but only if their pitching holds up.  Greinke has been a tough competitor against the Braves in the past, but this isn’t the Zack Greinke of 2015, either.

As noted above, a breakout of the offense would certainly help matters tonight.  Here’s the lineup:

  • EDDIE ROSARIO (LF)
  • FREDDIE FREEMAN
  • OZZIE ALBIES
  • AUSTIN RILEY
  • JOC PEDERSON (RF)
  • TRAVIS d’ARNAUD
  • ADAM DUVALL (CF)
  • DANSBY SWANSON
  • DYLAN LEE

Pederson has been inserted (and he has solid numbers against Greinke).  Adam Duvall slides down in the order and d’Arnaud moves up in his stead.  Jorge Soler will be available off the bench.

Braves vs. Astros Game 3 Prediction

This is a tricky one… it could truly go either way, but another 2-0 game is probably not in the cards, regardless.

So let’s just throw caution to the wind and hope that the Atlanta bats break out in a big way to send this series to the brink for Sunday:  Braves win 10-4.
