5. The Firefighter Extinguishes the Flame

As big as Rosario’s home run was in the fourth — and it was huge, the Braves don’t win without it — what Tyler Matzek did in the 7th inning was even bigger.

The Braves went into the seventh inning holding onto that 4-1 lead. Luke Jackson was sent back out to try and get through the bottom of their order once again after blowing Game 3 against the same part of the lineup.

Chis Taylor led off the inning — because of course. Then Jackson walked Cody Bellinger.

A.J. Pollock swung at a ball that was going to hit his kneecaps and somehow kept it fair for an RBI double.

It’s now a 4-2 game with the tying run on second base and no outs.

This is the moment where every Braves fan is thinking, “here we go again.”

You just knew the Dodgers were going to tie it up right there and who knows how the rest of the game/series would have unfolded.

But enter the fireman, Tyler Matzek.

What I love is that he had to go through two fomer MVPs to get out of that jam. The last of which is a top 10 player in the game right now in Mookie Betts — who he blew away on three straight fastballs.

To me, that was the biggest moment in Game 6 and the biggest reason why the Braves are heading to the World Series.
